Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition (Credit: EA)Madden, the go-to franchise for NFL fans, is upping its game.

EA has unveiled a limited ‘Anniversary Edition’ edition of the upcoming Madden NFL 25 that will come with a free Sunday Ticket subscription, letting owners not only play simulations of the entire NFL season, but watch it live, too, whether they're in-market or not.

The special version of the game, which is only available via Amazon, has been marked up to $100, but there is something of a caveat. The subscription included will only cover NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets and mobile services.

(Credit: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)Nintendo has seen its share of rough patches over the years, but the past 12 months have been a doozy.

  • Game industry sales continue rough slide in April

April was the latest in a long string of sales disappointments, with brick and mortar sales of video game software falling 17 percent as compared to the same period in 2012. Hardware sales, predictably, were drastically lower as consumers start to save their money for the looming next-generation systems.

Sales of game consoles, in fact, were down 42 percent to $109.5 million, while game sales dipped to $254.3 million. Overall, the industry was down 25 percent compared to a year ago.

If you think chess isn't a spectator sport, you obviously haven't been watching the right matches.

Gata Kamsky retained his title of U.S. chess champion Monday night in a marathon game that proved so challenging and suspenseful, it went into the chess equivalent of extra innings.

Dueling grandmasters Kamsky and his opponent Alejandro Ramirez battled one another for more than three hours, making over 150 moves each. After two head-to-head rounds, they were tied.

  • Blizzard donates money from Diablo III glitch to charity

Diablo III (Credit: Blizzard)Blizzard Entertainment is turning a potential PR disaster into a PR coup.

Last week, the developer discovered a programming bug that let players of the blockbuster role-playing game Diablo III duplicate their in-game gold, resulting in inflated prices in the game's auction house, which uses real-world money.

This weekend, Blizzard announced the bug has been fixed, the people who took advantage of it have been suspended or banned from the game, and the money those less than savory players raised is being donated to charity.

  • Ouya console gets $15 million in extra funding, delayed to June 25

(Credit: Ouya)After securing $8.5 million on Kickstarter last year, the Ouya game console has further guaranteed itself some financial breathing room with a $15 million venture capital injection.

A group led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (whose other investments include Zynga and Groupon) has invested the money, which Ouya says will be used to support the Android console's developer community and "meet increased demand" for the retail launch.

That launch has also been pushed back from June 4 to June 25, a notable shift in that it moves the system's arrival out of the news and marketing blast zone of E3.
