  • Video game sales continue to plummet, down 25% in March

Mass Effect 3 (EA)2012's losing streak for video game sales unfortunately kept right on going in March.

Sales of video game software were down 25 percent compared to last year. Hardware sales were down 35 percent, according to The NPD Group, which tracks the numbers. The totals, while disappointing, were within the range expected by Wall St. analysts.

"While it was a disappointing month, and first quarter, for new physical retail sales of video games hardware, software and accessories, it wasn't entirely unexpected given guidance we've seen from several sources," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier.

  • Kinect support coming to ‘Skyrim’

The winner of more Game of the Year awards than you can count, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim isn't exactly a title that causes you to shout at your TV.

But by the end of the month, you'll have that option.

Publisher Bethesda has announced plans to add Kinect voice support to the game as a free download, which will let fans practice their dragon shouts -- and do a fair bit more.

  • Better Business Bureau: ‘Mass Effect 3′ did falsely advertise

The seemingly never-ending saga of the ending of Mass Effect 3 has taken another odd twist.

The Better Business Bureau, in a blog post on its site, concedes that yes, technically, EA and Bioware are guilty of false advertising with the game.

However, the Bureau doesn't seem overly concerned about it.

  • The U.S. Navy is looking for a few good video game hackers

The war on terror has taken an odd -- and kind of fun -- turn.

The U.S. government has hired a white hat hacker collective to dig through used video game systems in an effort to track down bad guys.

The Navy is leading the charge in this hunt, last week hiring California-based Obscure Technologies to head up the "Gaming Systems Monitoring and Analysis" project. The company will be paid just over $177,000 for the job of developing tools to extract sensitive information from six modern gaming systems and examine how it might be exchanged through messaging and chat networks.

  • ‘Doom’ creator making a new shooter

John RomeroJohn Romero, one of the chief architects of the seminal first-person shooter Doom, is returning to the genre that made him a celebrity.

It's been a dozen years since Romero has made a shooter, but in an interview with Eurogamer, he confirmed plans to return to making action games, though he's not ready to divulge a lot of details yet.

"Yes, I'm definitely going to be making another shooter and it will be on PC first," he said. "I don't want to talk about the details but I already know what it is. I've already kind of designed the thing and it's pretty cool -- though of course, I am going to say that. I think it's a neat design, I haven't seen the design anywhere else."

  • New ending for ‘Mass Effect 3′ coming this summer

Bioware hinted a few weeks ago that it was thinking about changing the ending of Mass Effect 3, following a loud protest by the player community.

    Looks like they're following through.

The developer has announced Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, a free, downloadable content pack that will give further clarity to the game's ending and hopefully put an end to the debate. The expansion is due this summer for all versions of the game.

  • Arizona bill could criminalize Internet trolling

Arizona marches to the beat of its own drummer. But if that drummer gets upset and starts hollering on the Internet, he might get tossed in the clink.

After spending years targeting illegal aliens, the Grand Canyon State is turning its sights on obnoxious Internet users (commonly called 'trolls'). A new update to the state's telecommunications harassment bill could make the practice of harassing people online illegal.

  • What to do with your old PC?

PCs are a lot like televisions: No matter how new yours is, there's always something sexier hitting the market. And whether you're on the bleeding edge or prefer to stick with a system until it coughs up dust, the time will come when you'll absolutely have to upgrade.

The problem then becomes: What should you do with your old machine?

Leaving it sitting in the corner isn't exactly a good long-term solution. Eventually, you'll have to part with it in one way or another, and just as there are stages of grief, there are stages (or steps, if you prefer) that you'll have to go through as you get rid of your old, trusty bucket of bolts. And each one requires some action and thinking on your part.
