(Credit: Getty Images)Now that Nintendo has priced and dated the Wii U, it's only a matter of time before people once again start trying to guess what Microsoft and Sony have in store. Other than unnecessary redesigns, that is.

Aside from secondhand information from developers, there aren't many facts out there regarding the Xbox 720 (technical codename: Durango) or the PlayStation 4 (technical codename: Orbis). But they're both definitely coming, so we're heading out on a very large, very shaky limb today by blasting out some informed predictions for what gamers might expect in the near future. While we don't expect every one of these to come true, we're sure going to brag about the ones that do. Take it away, crystal ball!

Sadly, EA's Real Racing 3 -- the one game Apple chose to show off the device's gaming potential during their iPhone 5 press conference -- won't be out of the shop until later this year. Super Slim PS3 (Credit: Sony)Sony, it seems, thinks you're not a big fan of price cuts. Or at the very least, they think you're tired of trying to figure out where the real bargains are.

With this week's unveiling of the Super Slim PlayStation 3, pretty much everyone thought the company would slash prices on the current, uh, "fat" model to help clear space on shelves for the new hardware.

Everyone, that is, except Sony.

The electronics giant says it doesn't plan to make any pricing changes -- even to the now technologically inferior 160 GB model -- since it believes customers are tired of having to choose between differently priced systems.

LEGOs are rad. Unnecessarily complex machines are rad. An unnecessarily complex machine made entirely from LEGOs? Judge for yourself.

Maniacal genius 'Akiyuki' created an epic Rube Goldberg device from LEGOs that sorts little soccer and basketballs via mini LEGO motors. Why? Heck if we know, but we are in awe of the results. The 'Great Ball Contraption' is made up of 17 separate Lego modules, contains 500 balls, and took the Lego magician a whopping 600 hours to build.

But really, no amount of text could do the project justice. After watching for 30 seconds, we were totally impressed. Our reaction hit "astounded," then "astonished," then "incredulous,"

The hit drama based on the equally awesome comic book franchise boasts legions of fans and some of the highest-rated episodes on AMC.

But the best Walking Dead experience currently out there isn't found in a book or on a DVR. It's happening in a spot all too familiar with zombie epidemics: your video game console.

Created by adventure game pioneer Telltale Games, The Walking Dead game has quickly turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. Presented over the course of five separate downloadable episodes, the horror/adventure title is racking up strong reviews from both fans and critics, something no one expected when the game launched.

Though the AMC series has a broader reach, it actually falls short when measured up against what Telltale has created. Here are five reasons why.

Sony is putting its flagship video game system on a crash diet.

Confirming months of speculation, the company unveiled a redesigned PlayStation 3 at its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference Wednesday.

The new 'Super Slim' model is roughly the size of a laptop computer and about half as thick as the original PlayStation 3 that hit stores in 2006. Sony says the redesign is 20 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than the existing model. It also uses a sliding door panel to top load discs, rather than the slot-loading disc drive previous models have used. Functionally, however, it's identical to the current PS3.

Star Wars. Ever hear of it? The film/comic/game/toy franchise is well (maybe too well) represented across the galaxy. The Jabba's share of those products are officially licensed. But every once a while, an independent artist will use the Force to create something rad just for the sake of doing it.

Enter animator Paul Michael Johnson. Johnson, who goes by the handle Otaking77077 online, is working on his own bit of Star Wars-inspired anime. Though he's quick to point out that the work is not (repeat, not) finished, what he has so far is awesome enough to make even Han Solo geek out.
