You can't be a video game hero if you don't have a villain to deal with, and in the case of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, your enemy has a name: Raul Menendez.
Activision and Treyarch have kept the lid pretty tight on Menendez, but a new trailer sheds some light on the man behind the explosions.
In the game, the manipulative terrorist orchestrates a conflict between the U.S. and China over rare earth elements, the resource that lies at the heart of the global economy in Black Ops 2's near future world. According to the trailer, though, he's apparently perceived as quite the celebrity -- at least until he starts blowing stuff up.

The longtime character actor is best known for a 14-year recurring role on the daytime soap "One Life to Live," a far cry from Black Ops 2's futuristic battlefields. While he's already enjoyed some solid success with roles in "Nixon" and "Salt" (he was even named one of People's 50 Most Beautiful back in 1997), playing the antagonist in what could well become the best-selling video game ever is likely a game-changer.
The trailer also points out that the game's music is done by a name you most certainly are familiar with: Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails, "The Social Network"). A veteran of the gaming world (he provided sound design for the original Quake in 1996), Reznor is one of a growing list of acclaimed musicians throwing their hat into the video game mix these days.
