In news that'll doubtless have nervous Playstation 3-owning race fans
sighing with relief, Sony today announced its long-awaited, much-delayed
racer Gran Turismo 5 will finally be released on November 24.

It's been a long road. Announced way back in 2005, and originally dated for a
March '10 launch in Japan, Gran Turismo 5 was then delayed to early
November. Last month, Sony announced an indefinite delay to "this
holiday season" -- which led some to wonder if we'd see it before the year's end.

Comparing the game's development effort to the Apollo Space Program, series
creator Kazunori Yamauchi provided some insight into the game's long
    delays.

"Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our
efforts," he said in a press release, "which is why it was such a
difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we
did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you
wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving
experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."

Gran Turismo 5 continues the series' tradition of being stuffed with content. Over 1,000 cars feature -- everything from the humble Honda Jazz to the exotic Lamborghini
Murciélago -- and the action takes place on 70+ circuits, both real and
invented, and including the return of many fan favorites from earlier
    Gran Turismo games.
