The much-ballyhooed 'Scanned' trailer for Halo 4 is here, and it turns out all that ballyhooing was justified.
The two-and-a-half minute trailer, which was produced by Hollywood heavyweight David Fincher ("Fight Club," "The Social Network" ) and directed by visual artist Tim Miller ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"), debuted Thursday on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It offers a glimpse into the creation of Halo's iconic hero, Master Chief, and it's very, very cool:
The blend of live-action and CGI loosely outlines how a boy named John turned into a Spartan war machine, though mostly it again makes us wonder how no one in Hollywood has figured out how to cut through the red tape to craft a big-budget Halo feature film yet.
Fincher isn't the first bigwig to work on a high-profile video game trailer. Last year, action director Michael Bay blew lots of stuff up for EA's racing game, Need for Speed: The Run.
Halo 4 releases November 6 for the Xbox 360.
