When playing 9-ball against the computer, it is not programmed to look for the "short cut win" by pocketing the 9-ball off the next legal ball. For example, if the 4-ball is the next legal ball, and you could bank the 4-ball into the 9 and into the pocket for the win, the computer will not take that shot.
