  • ROE AND ROSIN

    star44

Rata, rosin si for violin bows and other musical intruments. Resin is a glue like substance that can be hardened into jewelry beads and the like. Roe really is raw eggs. They were trying to be a little vague, to make you work for it but they were right.
  • Ole guy is right

Ole Guy is right -- just enjoy this (free) diversion -- AND, you might just learn something.
  • ROE and ROSIN (from yesterdays and todays puzzles)

    star33

ROE = Raw eggs? ROE is fish eggs, raw or cooked.

ROSIN = Bow lubricant? ROSIN is NOT a lubricant, it increases stickiness.

Editor? Are you there? Are you reviewing and editing these submissions? And why not?
  • Pieta

    star11

Jill Pepper, a pieta is not a madonna and child sculpture. It is an image of Mary and the dead Christ. I dont think Christ died as a child.
  • Difficult? Hardly

    star55

Who thinks they are hard? I am 81 and zip right through them... Sure don't like the ads though... But don't mind the foreign words... Hablo un poco de espanol.... Und Deutsch... No likee de frenchie though...
  • Challenge Should be in the Clues, not the Words

    star33

I used to think these were too easy, but lately I've been having problems, too. I was afraid it was dementia setting in. I much preferred the other crossword they had a few years ago.

A well-designed puzzle should have a minimum of foreign words and acronyms. Anyone can make a hard puzzle with tons of obscure words. But that kind of "hard" isn't fun.

By the way, they do "charge" for the puzzles. You haven't noticed those ads at the beginning? You can be sure that they're making money off of the games. Otherwise they'd drop them. They are a business after all.
  • At Last!!!!

Congratulations Jill Pepper, on composing Sunday's crossword that meets my concept of what a good one should be, i.e., avoiding/minimal use of, foreign words, proper nouns/peoples names, acronyms, slang, etc. The extra effort required by you to achieve this, is greatly appreciated.
  • Darth Vader

Was Darth Vader truly evil? Or was he a product of circumstances?
  • I don't get the bad ratings

    star44

As for odd clues ... that's the writer's fault not Yahoo's. I do these every day. But I'm getting worse and worse at em.
