MahJong is a game played with tiles, which are similar in function to
playing cards. The object is similar to rummy, as players attempt to
collect sets and sequences; but in MahJong, values of winning hands can
vary wildly. Although descended from ancient Chinese games, MahJong in
its current form is only about 100 years old. There are three main systems
of rules--Chinese, Japanese, and American--as well as variations within
each rule system. The game is for four players, and there are no partnerships.
