While Nintendo is unequivocally responsible for some of the best-loved pieces of gaming hardware ever created, they've also had some spectacular misfires.

NINTENDO 64DD (1999) -- MISS! Console add-ons rarely fare well, but the 64 DD barely got out of the starting gate. Intended to add storage and expand the functionality of the N64, the bulky drive was announced in 1996 but didn't actually come out until 1999. By then, most gamers were eyeing the next generation of systems, and with very little software support, the DD never even made it out of Japan. That's probably a good thing.
