In space, no one can hear you scream...unless you've got feathers.

Angry Birds Space continues to shatter records for the popular iPhone series. The latest adventures of the peeved parakeets has been downloaded 50 million times in just 35 days, making it the fastest-selling game in the series -- and one of the the fastest-selling mobile games of all time.

"We extend our deepest gratitude to all fans of Angry Birds everywhere," the company said in a blog post today. "While numbers like this certainly say something about the popularity of Angry Birds, for us the main goal is to keep creating fun new experiences that everybody can enjoy!"

Comparatively, recent app sensation Draw Something made waves when it was downloaded 50 million times in 50 days. Angry Birds Space beat that by two weeks.

This isn't the first notable sales achievement for the game. In its first three days, Angry Birds Space boasted 10 million downloads, a feat something it had taken Angry Birds Rio — the last game in the franchise — 10 days to accomplish.

Exactly how much that 50 million figure means in terms of sales dollars is something of a mystery. iPhone players pay a buck each for the game and iPad users shell out nearly $3, but anyone with an Android phone can get the game for free. And folks who want to play on Windows — for whatever reason — cough up $5 for that version.

First released in 2010, the Angry Birds franchise has racked up over 700 million downloads for its different versions on different platforms. The game has been arguably even more successful in the marketing field, though, making millions on plush, stuffed versions of the birds as well as t-shirts and other merchandise.

Despite some online chatter about people getting tired of the game, they're still buying it faster than ever. And they'll likely be playing it quite a bit today, as Rovio just released 10 new levels on iOS and Android to celebrate the milestone.
