Heard the incessant praise about the Assassin's Creed franchise, but still haven't gotten around to playing the original game? For shame!

The good news is you'll soon be able to overcome this gaming faux pas -- and no one has to be the wiser.

Ubisoft has announced that it will include a full copy of the original Assassin's Creed in the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin's Creed Revelations when it's released on Nov. 15.

That's something Xbox players won't get, since that system doesn't use Blu-Ray discs (the extra storage space is credited with making the promotion possible).

First published in 2007, Assassin's Creed has become Ubisoft's biggest core gaming franchise, spawning four major console titles as well as a number of mobile spin-offs, a Facebook game and comics and graphic novels.

The original game tells the story of Altaïr, an assassin during the Crusades, and details the ongoing struggles between the Secret Order of Hashshashin (Assassins) and the Knights Templar. It's told through the eyes of Desmond Miles, a modern day bartender who's distantly related to a line of assassins.

Revelations features Altair as well as Ezio, the hero of Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Set in Ottoman-era Constantinople, Ezio will seek to learn more about the origins of the Assassin Order and connections to Altaïr's past, killing a lot of folks in the process.

The first three Assassin's Creed games have sold more than 28 million copies worldwide, with each building on the previous installment's audience. They've also been career makers for some of the people who have worked on them — none moreso than Jade Raymond, who produced the first game and is now managing director of Ubisoft's Toronto studio.
