If you missed last year's colorful celebration of all things Blizzard and were looking to taking part in this year's event, you might need to make other cosplay plans.has been postponed until 2013.
Replacing this year's show will be the Battle.net World Championship, to be held in Asia at the end of 2012. Blizzard describes the gaming event, which will feature StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments, as "a major global eSports event featuring some of the best pro-gaming competition in the world."
At first glance it would seem that the lack of a BlizzCon this year is an indication that things aren't so rosy with the leader in MMO and real-time strategy gaming. But with Diablo III, Word of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm expected to launch this year, Blizzard claims that this is merely a case of their collective plate being a little too full.
Not everyone buys that excuse. With reports that BlizzCon 2011's attendance was down from previous years, Ars Technica reports that the event is actually a money loser for the company and wonder if we're getting the whole story here.
Regardless of the reason, however, you'll have to leave that awesome Tauren costume in the closet this year.
