Pythons Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam are coming to a Facebook near you
And now for something completely different.
Fans of anarchic comedy troupe Monty Python have reason to brush up their
silliest walk, because the zany humor of the British team is coming to
Courtesy of developer Zattika, a British maker of social and mobile games, the
Pythons' free Facebook game -- dubbed 'The Ministry of Silly Games' --
will offer players the chance to interact with characters from the
team's sketches and movies in a whole new way.
According to the game's official site, "it will also introduce a host of new
'mini games' which bring the Monty Python characters, sketches and
locations to life like never before."
While that may be true, it's by no means the Python team's first appearance
in a video game. Past efforts have included a Myst-like adventure based
on the Holy Grail movie, and an unfeasibly difficult platform game just
called "Monty Python's Flying Circus."
"For years, people have wondered what it would be like to catapult livestock
at French fortresses or play Russian Roulette with an Upper Class
Twit," Terry Jones said, and we can't help but agree. Other minigames
will include the chance to exchange Holy Hand Grenades with the Black
Knight ("It's just a flesh wound!") and tune your TV by balancing the
aerial on various household objects.
The Ministry of Silly Games will be out next year -- but you can sign up for the game's beta test right here.
