The Bravado Banshee might be the most recognizable car in the Grand Theft Auto franchise’s massive garage, but it’s no longer a work of fiction.

Rockstar Games has joined up with West Coast Customs -- the same folks who for years transformed beat-up jalopies into over-the-top works of automotive art on MTV’s ‘Pimp My Ride’ -- to bring life to the Banshee as part of a GameStop contest running through September. Yes, you can actually win this thing.

West Coast Customs fabricated new exterior molds and laid out each panel by hand to make sure the Banshee looks exactly like the 2013 version appearing in the upcoming GTA V. It’s also packing a handcrafted interior complete with Banshee insignia embroidery, carbon inlays, leather seats, and a premium sound system. Though Rockstar hasn’t revealed the make and model of the car hiding beneath all this new sheen, it’s valued at $180,000, so we’re pretty sure it’s not a Toyota Corolla.

It could well be a Dodge Viper, though (the 2013 model starts at about $95,000), which is the vehicle on which the Banshee was originally based. Having made its first appearance as a getaway car in the opening cutscene of the seminal Grand Theft Auto III, it remains one of the most beloved rides in the series.

The contest itself is pretty easy to enter for GameStop Power-Up Rewards members; you’ll get one contest entry for each transaction during the month of September. In addition to the car, the winner will get a check for $70,000, presumably to help you post bail when you get caught backing it into a bank vault.
