Still on the fence about a Wii U? Nintendo has about two dozen reasons you might want to hop over.

On Tuesday, the company revealed the 23 games that will launch alongside the Wii U when it hits the U.S. on November 18. The lineup includes a number of heavy hitters, with the first-party platformer New Super Mario Bros. U and Activision's anticipated shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops II likely to top wish lists.

Though only four first-party Nintendo games will be available (including 'Deluxe' version pack-in Nintendo Land, a Nintendo-themed mini-game collection focused on showcasing the system's unique touchscreen GamePad), a number of big titles from third-party game makers shores up the list. In addition to Black Ops II, games like Assassin's Creed III, Epic Mickey 2, Skylanders: Giants, and the cool survival-horror romp Zombi U will be on shelves alongside the console.

Another 29 games will be hitting stores between the system's launch and March of next year, the company noted, including games like Mass Effect 3, Pikmin 3 and Wii  Fit U.

"We're making sure that Wii U owners will have great games to play from the moment they open the box, and that a steady stream of fun new games is always on the way," Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's president and chief operating officer, said in a press release.

So is it worth getting excited about? That depends a great deal on your gaming tastes, but historically speaking, it's pretty impressive. Launch lineups usually stink. It's certainly better than the 18 games Nintendo launched with the 3DS, for instance, and just about doubles the weak 12-game lineup Sony launched alongside the PS3 back in 2006. It's also the first Nintendo system to launch with a new Super Mario Bros. game since the original DS back in 2004.

Still, the list isn't exactly bursting with exclusive must-haves. Gamers will undoubtedly gripe about games missing from the list (we're looking at you, Pikmin 3), and most of the third-party games will also be available on other consoles. Some, like Assassin's Creed III, will actually be out on those consoles much earlier. In the case of Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, we're talking about an updated take on a game that came out last year.

But with lots of recognizable names here, it's about as solid as launch lists get.
