Peace out: Gamer ‘beats’ World of Warcraft without killing anything

So very peaceful...

Grinding your way to level 85 in World of Warcraft takes time, endurance, and plenty of slain enemies.

Or does it?

In what sounds like the most boring video game experience since Penn and Teller tortured us with their diabolically dull Desert Bus, one Warcraft player managed to reach the game's highest level without harming so much as an insect.

According to the player 'Everbloom', the seemingly impossible task took a solid five months, much of which was spent exploring, swimming, mining, picking herbs, digging up bones and partaking in a slew of other non-violent activities made possible by the game's 'Profession' system.

Epic quests? Boss battles? Even just poking at a bear? Nope.
By the time his Night Elf druid hit level 85 - currently the highest level
attainable -- he had killed nothing and accrued exactly zero quest experience (though
he accidentally completed one tiny quest, which he's since asked game maker
Blizzard to rescind).

"It was certainly a different way of leveling, requires lots of patience, but I did get to see the whole game in a new light," he said on the game's official forums.

Like most fantasy-based massively-multiplayer games, World
of Warcraft is designed around its combat system and adds monstrous new enemies
with each expansion. Everbloom, however, managed to avoid conflict altogether
by simply sticking to the game's most mundane chores and dodging battles
constantly.

And while he admits it's a tough sell, he encourages other players to give the peaceful approach a shot.

"If you like to explore, and enjoy a challenge I really REALLY recommend this," he says. "I have been playing since day 1 on other characters... and I saw so MANY new things with Everbloom that it really made it worthwhile for me to continue on with this character, and each level was a major achievement!"
