Real-life Fruit Ninja is a messy masterpiece

Plugged In

What do you get when you combine a razor sharp sword, a husky samurai wannabe, a farmer’s market worth of fruit and a slamming dubstep jam? Viral video gold, of course.

It’s real-life Fruit Ninja, and it’s awesome.

Created by Youtube maestro Scott Winn (one half of dubstep duo Scott and Brendo), the video brings the Fruit Ninja fantasy -- slicing and dicing flying pieces of fruit before they hit the ground  -- to life in glorious slo-mo. It gets bonus points for accuracy, too, as the swordsman is dressed exactly like Fruit Ninja’s merchant character Gutsu. He even avoids bombs. Eat your heart out, Gallagher.

Launched back in 2010, Fruit Ninja is one of the biggest mobile hits of all time. Over 300 million copies have been downloaded across iOS and Android devices, and versions can be played everywhere from Facebook to Xbox 360’s Kinect.

Winn’s clearly got a love for slo-mo videos, as his past work includes gems like Cute Kittens Fly in Slow Motion to Hip Hop Dubstep and Slip n’ Slide Launches People Into Kiddie Pools.
