Sega might not be cranking out blockbusters like it did during its heyday in the 1990s, but it's got loads of amazing games in its back catalog to fiddle with.

One such beloved game is the Sega Saturn great NiGHTS into Dreams, which will be coming to Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PCs this fall in a full HD re-release, the company announced today.

"We've gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall," said Chris Olson, VP of Digital Business.

The announcement comes on the 16th anniversary of the game's debut back in 1996. A side-scroller with a 3D twist, NiGHTS made waves for its gorgeous graphics and interesting flight mechanics. It also launched with an optional gamepad called the Saturn 3D controller, essentially a progenitor to the Dreamcast controller, which itself would go on to heavily influence the now ubiquitous design of Microsoft's Xbox gamepad.

In addition to HD visuals, the re-release will include support for leaderboards and achievements as well as a fully playable version of the Saturn original.
