For over 15 years, Yahoo offered a set of classic multi-player board and parlor games for you to enjoy. Yahoo Games deeply appreciates the passion and dedication you've shown in that time. As of March 31, 2014, the existing Parlor Games and related League pages were closed while we transition to a newer technology platform that will provide a better, more consistent gaming experience. For a list of the older games affected, please see below.

The Yahoo Games Team takes the gaming experience very seriously and we have seen a growing number of serious issues reported by the community over the years. Still, closing the doors to these games was difficult for all of us.

We came to the point where the technology used to build the games encountered problems we could not fix. Yahoo is also making a company wide change to all of its web pages, and these older games do not meet the requirements for an up-to-date Web experience. We could not keep the games up any longer.

Yahoo has made the decision to build an entirely new set of free parlor games, using up-to-date technology, as a way to deliver the best quality experience. Please help us in making those games great! Many of the games and features that you have asked for in the forums and on Facebook are being considered. Some of them are already in development. Please try Pool, Poker and Bingo and watch for new games as we announce them.

Thank you for being a Yahoo Gamer. We hope you’re as excited as we are to take part in the future of Yahoo Games.

Updated: April 15, 2013

For over 15 years, Yahoo! has offered a set of classic multiplayer board and parlor games for our users to enjoy. The Games team would like to sincerely thank those who have stuck with us! We are all avid gamers, and deeply appreciate the passion and dedication you've shown us.

We also understand the frustration and disappointment you've felt as the servers have had increasing difficulties, whether it be intermittent outages or other users causing grief in the game rooms. We'd like to extend an apology for this, and share some of our plans to reduce these problems and usher in a new era for Yahoo! multiplayer games.

Unfortunately, the age of the technology used to build the games is causing problems we cannot easily fix, such as security issues with old Java versions, OS and browser incompatibilities, etc. We are investigating ways to improve overall server stability so game interruptions and availability issues are reduced. We are also improving automated monitoring and alerts so we can fix these issues more quickly when they do occur. Additionally, we will be increasing our presence in lobbies and game rooms to mitigate abuse, cheating and harassment. Once these improvements have been implemented, we will turn our efforts to a renewed multiplayer experience that looks and plays great, with some fantastic new features.

In the end, after reading many passionate pleas from players like you, we decided it would be better keep the current games running in spite of their flaws rather than shut them down while we develop their replacements. This does mean, however, that the old games will have reduced support and maintenance as we focus on building and releasing the new ones. We hope you'll understand this, and bear with us through this process. 2013 is going to be an amazing year for Yahoo! Games and we hope you'll share it with us.

We will have more information coming very soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to join us in the community support forums, to give us your feedback and report issues.

Sincerely,
The Yahoo! Games Team
